BOOKS – Drawing The Head And Hands by Andrew Loomis Review
There are three major challenges when drawing the figure. The first challenge is drawing the figure itself. By which I mean the general head shape, the body and all it’s appendages.
The second challenging thing which is just as difficult as drawing the figure, is simply getting the head right. We all know what a head looks like, and when it’s drawn poorly, we can really tell.
The third challenging part of drawing the figure which is also as difficult as the whole figure and drawing the head right is drawing hands. Hands are a huge challenge. You want to see who’s a good draftsman and who’s a bad one? See how well they draw hands.
Andrew Loomis tackled drawing the figure in one book, but he also dedicated a whole book on just drawing heads and hands. This shows how important a topic it is.
Is the book good? Should you get it?
