Shading can be a tricky thing. It’s one of the first things people think about when they think about drawing. It’s also something that can be very difficult to get right.
Most of the shading information that I’ve seen explain shading but rarely do they ever explain “edges.”
Edges are the type of gradient you use to shade a form depending on the objects structure and the type of light it gets hit with.
In my video I go over the type of edges you can use when shading and when they’re used. I also show you some very simple things you can do to map out your shading before you even start:
